Help nurture our future as early childhood educator

Did you know that the employment of teachers, including early childhood education, is expected to grow by 13 percent between 2008 and 2018, with a particular demand, expected in urban areas? Now is a good time to enter this field that specializes in teaching children from birth to eight years. Although the term "educator of the child" usually refers to a teacher, but also can be applied to teaching assistants, specialists and administrators. The responsibilities of these early childhood educators depend on age of children. For example, teachers of young children create lesson plans, administering discipline and evaluating student progress, emphasizing the aspects considered crucial to the success of their physical, cognitive and emotional. The only thing that all these professionals have in common is a post-secondary education as Centennial College Early Childhood Education program - graduate certificate in early childhood education.

This two-year project is conducted off campus university status, which is centrally located and ideal for networking. To apply, students must present at least a diploma from the Ontario Secondary School (OSSD) or equivalent or be 19 years of age or older. They must also have completed the compulsory English 12C or U or skills assessment, or its equivalent. English competence will also be considered in the admissions process.

During his stay in the Initial Education program, students participate in courses such as the healthy development of the child guidance, and children in particular, health and welfare of young children, The Principles of Psychology of understanding and communication with families, and many more. As you can see, the program's focus is very clear on the child. That's because the first priority of the Centenary of Early Childhood Educators is to provide a high quality of care for children and their families. In addition to these courses at the school, the ECE program at Centennial College Progress Campus offers a placement on the ground. This gives students the opportunity to apply what they have learned, and find situations that will most likely experience after graduation. Note that in order to complete the field placement, you must: have a clear police annual review with the vulnerable sector research and obtain a valid first aid and CPR certificates (before the start of the second semester). Also, transportation costs involved in some field work experience is the student's responsibility.

Students graduate with a broad set of skills. First, are capable of curriculum that is based on a thorough knowledge of child development and implementation of various programs and curricula to meet the developmental needs of children. Centennial College graduates also know how to use a variety of observational techniques to enhance work with children, families and coworkers. Another way to improve your work is through developing and maintaining effective children written, oral, verbal and electronic, family, coworkers, employers and people / agencies. This goes hand in hand with the establishment and maintenance of safe environments and health that meet the requirements of current legislation, regulatory agencies and policies of the program, so parents are assured that their children are safe.
